Bonjour Cannes! | In conversation with Lulu Raghavan

Landor Mumbai’s Lulu Raghavan is on the prestigious Design Jury at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this year. Over the next few days, she will be witness to some of the most interesting and effective work produced by thousands of agencies from across the globe. We caught up with her just as she was about to take off for Cannes for an excited conversation. Here goes:

Q. What is the most exciting part of being a jury member at the Cannes Lions?

It’s a real gift to get so much time to be immersed in the best creative work from around the world. I’m also super excited to meet and interact with the other jury members – it’s a really eclectic international group. Not to mention the fantastic vibe of the Riviera!

Q. How are the next few days at the Festival looking like for you?

Very packed. It will be jury duty all day for the next five days. Hopefully we’ll get some time off in the evenings to unwind with a rosé on the Croisette. Many of my ad friends from India will be there and I look forward to catching up with them.

Q. What are you most looking forward to at the Festival?

I’m really looking forward to meeting bold, original ideas that scare the hell out of me.

Q. Cannes Lions is all about celebrating creativity. What does being creative mean to you?

Creativity to me is combining unexpected things in unexpected ways. The possibilities for creativity are limitless, only bound by the limits of our imagination.

Q. You’re part of the Design jury at Cannes. What role do you think design plays for brands today?

Almost every brand in every industry can be more differentiated in its approach to how it wows its customers. This is where design thinking and design can add tremendous value.
